The Quest for Shambhala: Nicholas Roerich's Himalayan Journey - Gastvortrag von Dr. Przemysław Sieradzan (Danzig)

Am Donnerstag, den 16. Januar, um 18:00 Uhr hält Dr. Przemysław Sieradzan von der Universität zu Danzig (Polen) einen Gastvortrag über "The Quest for Shambhala: Nicholas Roerich's Himalayan Journey”. Der Vortrag findet im Katalograum des Slavischen Instituts statt. Alle Gäste sind herzlich willkommen. Ansprechpartnern: Dr. Yulia Ivanova, Dr. Pavel Sokolov und Dr. Jan Czarnecki Abstract in English: The lecture will be dedicated to the outstanding Russian émigré painter, philosopher and occultist and his Central Asian expedition of 1925—1929. Although the goals of the journey were mainly scientific and esoteric (search for the legendary land of Shambhala), the thinker became involved into « the Great Game » between world powers (mainly USSR and United Kingdom) for the control of Tibet. The geopolitical aspects of Roerich's brave endeavour arouse controversies among the researchers until today.
