Rethinking the Impact of the Liberal Arts: Four Workshops
The European traditions of civil societies are intrinsically linked to skills and qualities trained by the study of the liberal arts. The formation of personalities, courage, responsibility, the believe in the word as the most important medium of the civil society and the rhetoric skill to use the word in order to transform the society are still cornerstones for our understanding of civil societies. This connection is a forgotten element in European Intellectual History. Our aim is to bring together students and young researches from Belgrade and Cologne and to raise our awareness which roles the skills that we are training can play in the transformation of societies. Four independent workshops will address meaning of four of the seven Liberal Arts for the development of societies.
